Nature of Position – Empowers and supports individuals living with developmental disabilities in their homes and in the community to allow them to function more independently. Depending on individual needs, and following service plans and program guidelines, assists with daily life skills and/or behaviour management, facilitates physical, recreational, and educational activities, and plans, organizes and implements skill-building activities. Other responsibilities may include medication administration, personal hygiene assistance and transporting participants to appointments.

Qualifications – Human Services Worker Certification or certification in a relevant field is preferred. Three to six months prior job experience (paid or volunteer) working with people with developmental disabilities. Preference given to those with previous experience working with people with a dual diagnosis and challenging behaviour. Must display a proven ability to calmly and effectively work with individuals with complex behavioural and emotional needs. Must have good communication skills, both verbal and written, as well as basic computer knowledge. Must display enthusiasm, energy and a wiliness to be flexible in adapting to a varied schedule. Must be physically fit, willing and able to meet all physical demands of the job.

Wage Rate Per Collective Agreement, Grid Level 10

Location(s) – All OneSky Community Living Programs

Shift Schedule – Days, evenings, nights, weekends, as required

Hours per Week – Various up to 40 hours/week
