New to the bus system? Explore the City routes for free this week. The City of Penticton and BC Transit are offering free transit for those aged 55+ for the entire week. Whether you are a regular bus rider or would like to try it out for the first time, the price is right this week!

Keynote Speaker: Kim Lyster
Kim has an extensive background in community development and leadership in the social services sector. Her Master’s research focused on the issue of belonging in community. Kim has provided evaluation support to the Aging Well collaborative over the course of the project.
An opportunity to explore the importance of belonging in community and the impact on the quality of life for individuals and collective well being. The Aging Well Penticton project, and the experiences of individuals who have accessed the supports, will be highlighted, along with strategies to promote and protect belonging. The conversation will provide opportunities to think together about our community and how to support connections. As well as the benefits of a collective community approach to improve effective response.
Local senior serving organizations will be on hand with information and resources for seniors.

Historian Doug Cox will tell of a dream of riches and a disaster for most, who through unbelievable hardships made their way to the gold fields near turn of the century Dawson City in the Yukon. Hear the stories of their challenges and successes.

Join local historian Randy Manuel at Heritage Marine park where the historic vessels, Sicamous, Naramata, CN 6 and the Aberdeen all have their own interesting stories to tell.

Audiologist, Jessica Niemala, takes a holistic approach to hearing loss that goes beyond hearing aids alone. We will explore other strategies to become better communicators, self-advocates and develop an increased understanding of our hearing devices.

Tim Gordon from RBC will discuss how to protect yourself from a wide variety of scams and will share examples of the most common scams in the area and when they are likely to happen.
Dr. Cridland, a specialist in sleep medicine, will discuss screening for underlying sleep disorders and how to train yourself to optimize sleep and resolve insomnia without resorting to medication.

An exercise program for men who have survived prostate cancer. Regular exercise can reduce treatment side effects, improve quality of life and increase physical function in prostate cancer survivors. (class takes place in the Dance Studio)

Housing is a serious issue for everyone….including senior women. Ruth Campbell has discovered an organization that connects senior women who want to try living together. The concept of co-living offers both challenges and benefits.
