SENIORS WELLNESS AT ONESKY
Better at Home provides non-medical support for seniors’ independence. Services are delivered by a combination of volunteers, paid staff and contractors depending upon the service required and the capacity of the program to respond. In-home registration is required for most services.
Services can include:
Volunteer drivers provide transport to and from appointments when available. Advance notice is required.
Assistance ordering groceries for delivery. Please call for details. (Temporary assistance for those without registration).
Household maintenance chores such as vacuuming, dusting, kitchen, bathrooms; bed change and laundry if needed.
Lawn mowing, trimming, raking leaves, and general basic yard maintenance.
A variety of services for the maintenance and upkeep of the home. We will help with the small jobs or refer to someone with the expertise needed.
Clearing of walkways and driveways of snow and ice in the winter months providing a safe and secure home environment.
A weekly visit from a volunteer by telephone or in the home.
Fees for service are based on a sliding scale according to annual income and ability to pay. Some services are based on hourly rates and others are a flat fee. There is no fee for Friendly Visiting.
As a non-profit agency, all fees help to expand our capacity to respond to community need. All fees and donations are funneled directly back into the program. This, combined with the help of volunteers, means we can assist a greater number of seniors who need support to remain living independently, at home.
Seniors in the service delivery area (Penticton, Summerland, West Bench, Red Wing, Naramata, etc.) are eligible for services but must register for the program to become a participant.
Registration includes a home visit by the program coordinator to assess needs, establish fee rate, and sign registration forms.
